When the Fee Applies
Payment Released
The 1% fee is deducted when the client approves work and releases payment from escrow. This is the only time any fee is charged.
No Fee Is Charged When:
- •Client funds a milestone (funds just go to escrow)
- •Case is cancelled before payment release
- •Dispute results in full refund to client
- •Milestone is refunded before work begins

Common Questions
Who pays the 1% fee?
The fee is deducted from the payment to the lawyer. If a client pays $1,000, the lawyer receives $990. The client pays only the milestone amount with no additional fees.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. The 1% platform fee is the only fee we charge. There are no setup fees, monthly fees, listing fees, or transaction fees beyond the 1%.
What about payment processing fees?
Payment processing (Stripe) fees are included in our 1% platform fee. You won't see any additional charges for credit card processing.
Will the fee ever increase?
We're committed to keeping LawChain affordable. If we ever need to adjust our fee structure, existing users will receive advance notice.
